Professional Experience

Joe Hutson concentrates his practice in the area of litigation including commercial and corporate litigation, creditors’ rights, bankruptcy litigation, construction litigation, civil rights, municipal law, appropriations, and criminal defense. He represents national and regional lenders in a variety of corporate, commercial, and consumer matters including collections, foreclosures, bankruptcy litigation, and transactional and corporate work. Joe has successfully prosecuted objections to discharge in the U.S. Bankruptcy Courts based upon fraudulent debtor activities and has represented a large national lender in multi-million dollar, multi-state, commercial litigation.

Joe is also a member of the firm’s White Collar Criminal Defense Group. As a former Hamilton County Assistant Prosecutor, he prosecuted a variety of misdemeanor and felony criminal offenses. While in the Civil Division of the Prosecutor’s office, Joe represented Hamilton County officials and agencies in a variety of matters including employment and personnel issues, extraordinary writs, and Federal civil rights class action lawsuits. As an Assistant Prosecutor, he represented the Hamilton County Commissioners, Sheriff, and Public Defender in civil rights class actions arising from jail conditions, officer conduct, and assistance of counsel issues. He also represented Hamilton County and the Hamilton County Board of Elections in a statewide voting rights class action brought by the ACLU against the Ohio Secretary of State and designated counties. Joe has represented Hamilton County Common Pleas Judges in prohibition and mandamus actions, the Hamilton County Clerk of Courts in employment and personnel matters, and has negotiated public contracts on behalf of the Hamilton County Administrator.

Joe has also had extensive experience in a variety of construction litigation matters. He has represented general contractors, subcontractors and material suppliers, and owners in a variety of residential and commercial construction litigation. While an Assistant Hamilton County Prosecutor, Joe represented the County in extensive litigation arising from the construction of Paul Brown Stadium.

Joe has been selected as an Ohio Rising Star by Super Lawyers in 2009, 2011, and 2012.

Representative Matters

Assist in the representation of a large national lender with respect to a variety of commercial and corporate litigation matters, including the collection of multimillion dollar receivables from corporate debtors across the country.
